UÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ to conduct annual emergency communications system test Oct. 22
The ÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ will conduct its annual test of the emergency communications system at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Outdoor sirens will sound for several minutes. The sirens are part of UÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ’s multifaceted emergency communications system, established in 2007, that enables rapid delivery of critical information to the campus community.
No action is required during the test.
When UÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ’s emergency system is activated, notifications may include: a text to umaine.alerts subscribers; sirens sounded by the UÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ Police Department; updates on the university homepage, UÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ portal and official social media; and a recorded message available at 207.581.INFO.
Members of the UÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ community are reminded to register for emergency notifications (text and/or email) at umaine.edu/emergency.
UMPD Training Exercise March 12
The ÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ Police Department will be conducting an active shooter training exercise on Tuesday March 12, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the East Annex building. Students from the Eastern ÎÞÓÇÊÓƵ Community College Criminal Justice Program will serve as role players. Sound effects such as electronically simulated gunfire and yelling may be heard coming from inside. Signs will be posted around the building indicating that police training is in progress.
